Hello Sven,

the engine is an industrial engine, it's not an original engine and difficult to put a date on it.
as for the plate on the toolbox: serialnumber says April 1961.
Do you have other marks on the gearbox? check the left side of the gearbox, there should be a code with a few letters and numbers. You will also find a casting code under the front of the seat at the right side.

Hi Mathias
found these marks on gearbox left side, D17F and T2. And under seat, D2 and i think 501.
How much would an industrial engine differ from its agricultural relative ? are industrial units less desirable?
Thanks for your help.

D17f is 17 april 1961, so you have a match there. If the engine is in good condition, you can use the tractor for anything you want. It's just like old cars, if it's complete and all original, it worth more. On the otherhand, you can see it as a part of the history of your tractor. Farmers now and also back in the days, will maintain and modify their equipment by keeping the costs as low as possible.
