manifold heaters

Post by markr1001 »

i know this wont appeal to most as most of you are purists, but i want and sometimes need my tractor to start in the cold. where i am in Canada we regularly see -20c or -30c quite often in the winter and my fordson never likes to start below 5c. i previously had 1 in the center and it got me going at -5c but i wanted more. so this is what i have done. ideally i still have a coolant heater and it works best but i dont always have the time to plug in for an hour before i need the tractor.

all total i have around 50 bucks into the 2 heaters and i bought a spare manifold for 20 from my local tractor scrap yard.

Mark,

A tractor was and is ment to be used and therefore a lot of ingenues things were added to make it more suiteble for some jobs or circumstances.
I think you have done a great job.
But if one is a purist as you say, its a different thing. But then they won't use it for jobs, but more for a show or road run.

Both are nice things to do with oure tractors.
Kind regards, Henk

well said!
i cant wait to see how it works! unfortunatly its 6 degrees here now so i may have too wait a week or 2. but that gives me time to get the lines hooked up and wired... i made a small canister to hold the deisel i had orriginally hoped to have it fill off the leak off pipe but i got next to no flow out of it so for now i will just fill it and keep an eye on the level.
