Good morning all , My son and I will get our new project today, a fordson major, we have done some research and believe it’s a 1954. We are looking to find as much history and information as possible so was hoping somebody on here could point us in the direction to find this ? We have a serial number but there doesn’t seem to be anything on the engine block , look forward to hearing from the members on here ! Thanks in advance.

maybe you can post the serialnumber here, so we can see if it's genuine.
Note: on the early majors, the serial number wasn't on the engine block, but next to the starter.

The serial number is 1321818, that points towards it being December 1954 We have now found the auction sticker in the tool box and located it to an auction in Cirencester in 2017 . now hoping to find original owner

You might also look out for the casting codes on parts such as the front casing, gearbox casing (LHS usually above the round cover where the clutch linkage pivots) rear transmission, engine block. You are looking for a code with "letter number letter" indicating when the part was made/cast. So for a late Dec 1954, you could have something like N 14 V, indicating November 14th 1954. If made in December, it could be something like P 5 V, indicating 5 December 1954. If all the casting codes on these parts are within a month or so of each other, you probably have an original tractor. But given the age, you may find some parts have come from a later (or earlier) tractor. All part of its chequered past.
