Hi all,
After looking around I 've been incapable of finding pictures of all the variants of check chain and bracket.
The brackets are easier to see; I think I'm only missing the heavy duty dual hole Power Major type (plus industrials).
As for the chains themselves I would like some pictures of stampings on each part as well as a general pic.
Make sure you can give the approximate serial number so each type can be dated as this doesn't appear in the various books and manuals.
Remember there are std and heavy duty types; the heavy duty type is much longer.
I can't post any pic myself as our chains appear to be bitsa or are repro ones.
Hope this thread can become a reference page eventually!

If it's allright whit you, I would suggest including any photos and answers to this question on the FFCN page.

Don't think there are anny numbers on those parts. Could be they used a supplier for that, as they did for several parts.

I think that would be a good idea.
In the first film in Ford & Fordson on film Vol.4, you see an adjusting nut stamped E1ADKN in a similar way as the lifting rod fork and the top link bracket.

I will check mine. I know I have at least one thats not original.

I've been looking at our check chains and I think I'll post some pics of them as I think part of Billy's old RH one might be original.

I think the eye-bolt, link and lock nut are original


The adjusting nut is not original

I think the LH thread eye-bolt and part of the link are original, and the eye part of the mounting eye-bolt might be original, The bolt part is not (it was a heavy duty one originally) although the nut and spring washer might be original.







These show the current repro chains and the original shackle and pin. Note the heavy duty brackets.



These are of Super Billy's ones.




These are heavy duty chains of the late Ebro pattern, used on all Ebro tractors except Ebro Diesels (they have Major heavy duty ones) as far as I can tell.

Havend thought about Ebro chain before.

I wouldn't include Ebro stuff for now as I feel we don't quite know enough about it yet. But they definitely have a place on this site, they are after all another variation of the Fordson Major Diesel.

This is great stuff Janus. The long eye-bolt therefore came in at 1524079 rather than the Super as I had thought. There are two shackles for Major and Power Major, E1ADKN-995299A, short, and E1ADDN-995299, long. The Super one is E1ADDN-995299B.
The letter refers to std. chains (three hole bracket in Major and Power Major) with only one link between the rear eye-bolts, the heavy-duty ones have five links between the rear eye-bolts and a bracket with four fixing holes. This last bracket was modified to become the Super one, with increased clearance for the dual hole shackle (E1ADDN-995299B).

I've just discovered that the narrow Ebro Super 55 has different check chain brackets, I wonder what the narrow KFD has (The low one uses normal brackets I expect).
I hope I can post a pic of it some time.
