DEAR SANDY

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY. I contacted the supplier (WHITE HOUSE PRODUCTS LTD) of the pump and this is what he said;

'The fordson major pump has a capacity of 20cc/rev. Therefore if you multiply the capacity by the rpm of the pump shaft divided by 1000 then you will get the flow in litres per minute. Pump Flow (litres per minute) = capacity (cc/rev) x RPM/1000'

Going by this figure at 1600RPM i get at;
pump flow (litres/min) =20 x 1600/1000 = 32litres/min equivalent to 8.4gal/min

Any comments sandy

Bear in mind repro parts are in the land of nearly right, which would explain the difference between your supplier and the original specification.

Is the pump turning on the same speed as the engine?

You should count the teeth on the pto shaft and calculate from there I guess.

Remember the PTO shaft turns at 540 rpm for 1200 rpm of the engine except the NP Super Major that does 540 rpm for 1500 rpm of the engine. The PTO to pump ratio is 33/21 except for the NP Super Major that has 34/18.
