valve block on rear end of super major

Hi
My super major is leaking oil from the left hand port of the valve block. I have pictures but am unable to put them on the site.
It's the smaller of the 2 ports, I am guessing that there is maybe a ball in there secured by a roll pin.
Can anyone put me right on this please and suggest a remedy?
Thanks in advance.

Should have said, it's on the valve block on top of the rear end

For the pics see this:

As for the leak it'll be easier to see with the pics.

Sorry Sandy, I cannot even get Photobucket to accept me as a paying member !
Why can I not just copy and paste onto the site, as with other sites?

The leak, not gushing, is from the rear of the valve block, the smaller of the two ports if that helps.
I wonder, if you would'nt mind giving me an email address I can send pics that way ?

You can try using http://postimage.org, you don't even need an account for it.

You will want o-ring 87008-S95, If you haven't removed it already I suggest you remove the block from the top cover to ease access and the removal of the roll pin.

It's actually a plug with the o-ring on it, I think I remember a manual suggesting using a ball to push it out but I'm not 100% sure about that. Once you've got it out everything should be straightforward.

Here's the "manual", its actually an extract from Dexta Service Sheet 2 1963, the block is the same on the Dexta and the Super Major.

Hi Sandy, Thanks for the diagrams. I have taken the bull by the horns and got the plugs out, not by the method described but by my own method !

Plug D already had a small hole in it so I put a wood screw in and it came out easily.

Plug C, I had to drill a 2mm in it and it came out easily. Then I had to close the hole! Only way was to weld over the hole from both sides, grind/file the weld level, find 2 O rings and re-assemble. When the new gasket arrives tomorrow I will re-assemble and let you know the result.
The other similar-looking ports I have left alone, 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' !!

Many thanks for your assistance. :D :D

When you test the hydraulics make sure you count the corrections per minute with an implement raised, there should be a maximum of 3 a minute in theory, but more can be acceptable short term provided you don't reach 1 a second; any more can impair stability dangerously.

Well the gasket never arrived so this morning made one. Put some instant gasket where necessary, put the valve block on, bolts in and hey presto, all works well....on tick-over anyway !
Thanks for all your advice and help. Got a few diesel leaks to attend to now....

Make sure you start with the leaks before the lift pump as they're the more troublesome ones.

Thanks for advice Sandy, I've managed to fix the leak in the glass bowl filter so all is well.
Next the offside disc brake needs dismantling, I think there may be an oil leak from the back end into the housing as the brake is non-functioning. Hope it's not a 'major' job !

Try adjusting it first, you might find it's very loose.

Will do Sandy but there is a slight oil leak from the outside casing of the brake so off it must come !! I guess there is an oil seal in there somewhere that needs renewing.

Off side is the RH side?
There's also a little o-ring on the differential shaft. It's worth replacing this one also.
