Hydraulic remote valves for trailers - Metal piping to replace the rubber
Hydraulic remote valves for trailers - Metal piping to replace the rubber
Hi I have a 1959 power Major.
It currently has a rubber hose that comes out the valve and bends round under the seat.
I would rather have a metal pipe coming out the valve and going straight out the back.
I believe that I should be a metal pipe?
I have attached some images of the current setup.
Where would you source the metal piping? Can I use galvanised water pipe fittings or can you get something that is made for the job?
Thanks in advance all
Will

Hi Will
Yes there is a proper metal tipping pipe for the major, they do come up for sale on ebay occasionally. The only new ones i have seen for sale (agriline) are for the super major and they are different. As for using galanised pipe, i have seen it done but personally i wouldn't want to be sitting anywhere near one if they decide to go bang! Proper hydraulic pipe is seamless, galvanised pipe isn't and is only designed for water pressure

Try railswood tractors, very helpful and have alot of used parts. They may have one

Hi Sandy, is that a super major pipe fitted to Billy? Both my power majors and the old diesel major have the pipes running under the cross shaft

J Bargans manufactured the pipe themselves, and as far as I know no other Majors have been there that recently, so this is the only one like that.

That pick up pipe is not from a tractor either, could be a lorry or an industrial engine.
