Radiator shutter frame

Post by Billy26F5 »

Here's Billy's radiator shutter frame on his 10 fin per inch radiator with a solid filler. The frame is the only part left, the lever, rod, shutters and all bolts and pins are long gone.

Shame it's all gone, but at least you shouldn't miss the shutters too much in your climate

Certainly not! I expect they vanished with the replacement engine, I am pleased to have the frame and original radiator though, as it reminds us that the shutters have been there, and I also prefer the solid filler.

The rubber filler pipes always seem to run uphill, even with the mounting bracket fitted properly!

Nice shot, great to see them still on. I guess you have the original radiator, does it have the solid filler?

Sandy I do have what may be the original radiator, but it is in the floor above. Hyacinth has a replacement one from Agriline.
It was going to be $700 US to have it repaired.
Not sure what you mean by solid filler, but now that I've got the picture posting down, standby and I'll post one up!
Edit: Assume it is not the solid filler?

You don't have the solid filler, here's Billy's one.

Nice! So a 1955 would've originally had the solid filler radiator?

I think Billy isn't normal in this sense, the change was in February, but stock radiators would have been fitted later, like Billy's one (May).
