Jammed in tight. How much force can I use to get it out to clean?

Just carefully lever it out, a bit of petrol might loosen it a bit but don't overdo it.

Thanks, I wondered if a little petrol would be ok. Think I'll try to get a picture. It's black as coal.

If you need more than just a wee bit of petrol you might want to remove the governor to keep the diaphragm clean.

I didn't expect it to get seriously stuck, if it had been the governor would have been better off so you could use more petrol but it's always great when you can leave something alone and finish quicker.

Hyacinth was getting a little slow on starting. Not that first revolution start, more like third or fourth. Her lift pump needs to be rebuilt or replaced, and I question the seal in the rocker cover gasket for the intake manifold pipe.
However, on first start after cleaning governor air filter/capsule she fired straight away. I have not had time to do more starts, so maybe just coincidence. Will report more as soon as time permits.

Might that the blocked filter was preventing the diaphragm from moving smoothly. Always think what the battery is like first as it can change considerably from one start to the next.

After many starts yesterday, I am fairly confident that had a positive effect for quick starts.
But one other possible factor was tightening the 4 bolts on the left side of injector pump (facing pump).
They were not very loose but was able to get a bit on each one. Will post a picture as the plate is cracked and fitted with two washers.
