Major KFD

Post by Frans »

Just got from a narrow major may be a KFD, but I dont know much about them.

Casting numbers found M 29 U on gearbox

starter motor Lucas 11 53

engine number 271866 or 271266

I will try to post some pics asap so someone can confirm if it is a KDF

BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT.

Seems mostly original to me, except for the front end. Crossmember as they call it in the part book. Looks like it's been self-made. The lights front and back or not what they should be. The foot throttle is home made.
M29U is October 1953
I think there must be a 1 in front of the 271866 or 271266. Than it will give October or November 1953.
Don't know about the Lucas.
Kind regards, Henk

Yes i want to buy it but I want a bit more info before I do and I must ask my wife :rulez: as i do have 2 majors and thats the max she knows me,

Iff i can make a good price there is always space arround the home or I sell her car :curse:

Like whats it worth and some pics like David from wales had on the forum.

Its only 20 cm narrow from the Super.

I thought it could be a date on the lucas 11 53 (november 1953)

Hi Frans,
The only thing that I know about KFDs is what I've seen in David in Wales' pictures.
KFDs had a swept-back front axle, similar to a Dexta. The one that you posted has a modified Major axle, so I'm guessing that its not a KFD. It looks like a farmer or dealer may have modified that one.
Here's a link to a picture that I found.

Notice how far back the front wheels are, compared to a normal Major.

My wife doesn't have to worry at all, The kids must go to school, so she need the car.

There is plenty off space here so one tractor more or less that doesnt make a difference.

The money ist mostly the problem. so for sale a Fiat 600 car bj 1972 sleeping in a haystack for abouth 7 years

btw the major isn't a KDF but a lot smaller
