Hi Guys
Stupid question but how would I know if my 1963 Super Major has live drive or not

Think I might need to replace clutch this winter and need to save up

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim, if the selector lever is high box up, low box down it's live drive. If it's low box up, high box down then it's non-live drive

Thanks John
Mine is high up and low down so guess it’s live drive and £700 for replacement clutch

Are you sure you need to replace the entire clutch? You might manage to save quite a lot by doing the overhaul yourself, we've had some others on the forum doing it recently and they're now working (I think). The live clutch is very distinctive in having two points of pressure rather than the one that you have with a single clutch, so the moment you put your foot on the pedal and press it fully down you'll immediately notice it (assuming all adjustments are apropriate and that the stop pin is out).
