Does anyone know the correct thread to bolt the nose cone (and also the headlamp brackets) tot the tombstone?

My guess is 5/16 unc and I’m 99,98% sure I’m right.

In the parts books the std. parts section says the following for 20310-S7/8, the part no. of the bolt in question: 5/16"-18x1/2"hex. head bolt cadmium and zinc plated. The ones that go through the side channels as well are 20346-S7/8: 5/16"-18x3/4"hex. head bolt cadmium and zinc plated. Probably UNC but it doesn't give any details on that.

It could also be BSW (Whitworth) but it's unlikely on a Ford product.

That's in the 1965 parts book in the FFCN (the fourth in the Major section), near the end.

Just replaced mine this week, 5/16 UNC was fine, ran a tap down to clean up the rust in the threads first

yeah I ordered some unc taps to clean it up. One bolt was sheared off, so I used the welder to weld a nut on. It did get out with ease.
I have the headlamps in the grills, and I found out the 1/2 length bolts are not long enough. the 5/16 - 3/4 bolts were just fine.

I was going to say I used 3/4” long bolts, but the two on the ends around the corners could be 1” if you wanted to, the holes are deeper and the side rails are on top of those holes. A couple of the holes on the front go all the way through so the tap will clean them up nice. Those ones could be longer too to get the purchase under the headlight bracket!!
