Head evolution

Hi all,
I thought it would be good to cover the evolution of several parts, the head is probably one of the easier ones to do.
The first heads were E1ADDN-6052, E1ADKN-6052 and E1ADN-6052. From 1257972 E1ADDN-6052B replaced the original head, this one has the intergral injector housings and is suitable for rotator type valves (a few interim heads had intergral housings but also recesses for non rotator type exhaust valves). At around the same time (and I just can't find a serial no. for it) E1ADKN-6052B replaced the original head. This raised the compression ratio from 4.35 to 1 to 4.62 to 1. From 1269897 the decompressor became optional, this produced E1ADDN-6052C, the only main difference being that the decompressor hole was left as rough casting (E1ADDN-6052B was still fitted when a decompressor was specified). From the fitting of the engine to the Thames ET6 many changes occurred, in the case of heads the petrol engine had the compression ratio increased to 6 to 1 for the lorry by using TVO pistons rings and liners. Tractors remained at 5.5 to 1. From 1290291 the new decompressor brought in yet another head (E1ADDN-6052D), this one lacked any provision for the early decompressor. Then from slightly later (and again I just can't find a serial no. for it) the temp gauge brass adaptor was deleted, producing E1ADDN-6052E, I can't find any reference to this change on spark ignition engines. The last TVO head was for 1420356, although it's not clear if that tractor actually was a TVO one. Then from 1425097 E1ADDN-6052F and E1ADN-6052C replaced the previous parts. The Mk2 type ports are the most obvious change, but an equally important one is the new bypass tube connected to a passage controlled by the thermostat shroud. The petrol engine had the compression ratio increased to 6.4 to 1 for the lorry by returning to petrol parts. Tractors remained at 5.5 to 1 but used the same head, with two new head gaskets and a spacer between them. At the same time the 6 cylinder engine appeared, the original heads being 508E-6052 and 510E-6052. From 1481091 E1ADDN-6052G replaced the previous part, the only difference beeing the extra space for the push rods to compensate for the new rockers. At the same time the petrol compression ratio was changed to 5.84 to 1 on tractors with new spacer, the lorry remained unchanged (but space for the push rods might have been made quietly). From 1609839 a new head (E1ADDN-6052H) was fitted to allow the fitting of heavier valve springs. At the same time 510E-6052B catered for the same change in the 6 cylinder engine. Around mid 62 heads were cast at Ford's Lemington foundry, a few had appeared earlier but it was around this time that the letters FL appeared. Although quoted for identification this is only true on 6 cylinder engines, always check the part number and appearance to be sure (size if intake valve spring recesses and intake port shape - not easily discerible). Finally from 08C-960337 the final head was fitted (E1ADDN-6052J), the only difference is in the inlet ports to provide better airflow and get a trickle of extra power. This change happened earlier on the 6 cylinder engine, with all minimec fitted engines having 510E-6052C (equal to 08B-756398). I'm not sure what was done to petrol engines but the parts book quotes E1ADN-6052D and E1ADN-6052E being fitted late on. Also, 6 cylinder engines skip onto 510E-6052E, don't know what that was about. For service E1ADDN-6052S was provided for Mk1 engines later on. Ebro probably started with E1ADDN-6052G then followed a similar evolution and keeping on E1ADDN-6052J from when the Super 55 appeared.
Now for a table (missing details will be filled in as they're clarified, Ebro serial numbers are not at all clear yet so for now won't appear, Mk1 industrials (954E, 955E, 956E, 562E & 563E) are also similarly unclear as are many lorry numbers, especially ET6's):

Note the post is unfinished as I only have access to our vehicles, therefore your help with pics of the other heads is highly appreciated. I have seen some on Ebay, causing some doubts on where the part no. and EnFo (or FoMoCo) are stamped. Also Ebro parts are rather more difficult to keep track of with no proper manuals around.
Note at the time of posting I don't yet have good pics of our heads, they will come shortly.
Sandy
