Hyacinth finally has (somewhat) matching front tires.

I've got some work on Daisy's spindle so "borrowed" her front wheel to replace the awful dual wheel that was on Hyacinth. I cannot believe how much better she steers and fits in the barn!

Great to see, I see the mudguards are still not there, I can assure you you'll find Daisy very different once her ones are fixed. I think you need better tyres on the front (of the sort on the wheel that came on Daisy's RH side, all of them would be better like that remember they're 7.50-16). I see the bolts for the extensions are not quite in the right place

Good eye to see the bolts on the extension are not correct. Good rainy day project.
Yes on the 7.50x16. Not sure if I posted it but somehow Daisy's front tires were swapped with the front tires on the IH 504 that we also bought. They were parked nearby to each other. My son noticed the two capscrews for Daisy's rocker cover were both stamped with the IH marker as well.
I'd like to find mudguards for Hyacinth but I have not been able to search any out locally.

You did post about the front wheels being swapped (that's why I referred to the tyres the way I did), I didn't know the rocker cover bolts were too. The reason I brought up the tyres is that your current ones will have far less grip making you have to use more steering brakes. The front axle bolts are quite hard work if they've not been moved for a bit so worth putting diesel and oil on them.

Front axle bolts are correct on one side of Daisy, but not other side. Bothe sides are correctly positioned on the Super. "Nora" or"Rose" are two names we have come up with.

Great for the Super! How's that spindle doing? Hopefully the diesel will shift the rust, if the grease nipple is still there you could try to get it to grease then try to grease the spindle. You'll need grease there anyway so worth doing.

Glad you asked, been meaning to post more. It won't take grease and barely moves left or right hitting hub with sledge. I've stopped as this seems a bad idea for hub and wheel bearings. I've read of putting long pipe on axle stub, as well as heat. I know you've frowned using heat on some other parts, same here? Or would torches be ok? The other thing I have not tried is hitting the top of the spindle with any force. It is not welded by the way. The left side of the Super sure is...

Hi Leeroy, I had fun with a siezed spindle and this worked for me.Take the arm off the top and jack the wheel off the ground but leave it attached, spray penetrating oil on the top and strap a long metal pole to the side of the wheel with a ratchet strap so it sticks out the front. Use the pole to work the wheel side to side and eventually it should free up. The weight of the wheel hopefully will help the spindle to drop down without having to hit the top of it, didn't need any heat

Thanks John! Sounds promising.Im wondering if it took a hard hit on that side, as the left side moves fine. I will be trying this later today or tomorrow!

The one I had to fight with was just stuck from standing for a few years out in the open. Stick at it, sounds like you are making great progress!

Heat has issues on anything, so it can only be a last resort as long as you can return the parts to their correct tratment afterwards (not something most of us can do easily). The hammering is not great either. John's proposal sounds very good, I agree with it being from sitting but also from lack of grease, probably related to the nipple not working prior to sitting. Does the nipple work? If not these are 1/8 BSP.

Good work, keep the diesel and oil going in as you do it (or grease if you can get it to grease now).
