Rockercover seal

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since my last post. Way too long ago, but the good news is that the Major had no problems to write about.

I replaced the injector jets. They were in bad shape and the engine smoked too much, even after installing new valve stem seals.
Then put them back and it runs great again and doesn't smoke.
The valve cover seal was in bad shape and it was always a struggle to get it in the right position. So I ordered a new one. The description said it was for the old Major type. Not for the Super Major. But it didn't fit. The new seal is 14 cm wide and 58.5 cm long. But I need 15.5 cm wide and 56-57 cm long.
Also, the valve cover has a bevel on the front. Therefore the length should be 57 cm and halfway down the short side on the front the bevel is 56 cm.

The new one will definitely not fit. So I contacted the seller. He was very surprised, because he has been selling this part for 4 years and never received a response. The parts list contains 4 models:
1 E!ADN-6584-A, for the model from 1952 to April 1957 (New Major). My type Major
2 E!ADN-6584-B, for the model from April 1957 to April 1962 (Power Major)
3 528E-A, from April 1962 to January 1963
4 528E-B from January 1963 to the end of production. (NP Super Major)

Has anyone of you had the same problem? And can anyone tell me where I can find the right one?

Tanks.

I have oner or 2 seals for the major as a spare. I will measure them for you.
Only needed the super ones so far

Hi Mathias,

It would be nice if you could measure them.
I have contacted the webshop owner again and he has taken a new seal from stock with the same number. Guess what, it has the same dimensions as my old one. We suspect that his supplier made a mistake with stocking his seal products.
The "correct" seal will be sent to me next week. We will see.

Glad you've fixed the injectors Henk. The gaskets were E1ADKN-6584 for Mk1 engines and E1ADKN-6584B until April 62, then 528E-6584 until 08C-946100 when it became 528E-6584B. All three gaskets used after 1425097 are interchangeable. I suspect your wrong one was from a bad batch, as seems to happen from time to time. Hope you're lucky this time.

New seal for the rocker cover was send and now fitted. Fits perfectly.
With a new ground switch and new injectors, I'm ready for a nice tour on satturday with the local club.

Tanks for the help.
