Hi,
I posted a message about the overheating incident followed by poor starting, it did turn out to be the head. Now replaced I have a small problem the engine is reving very fast moving the throttle will speed it up but not slow it. it shuts off fine on pull stop, could this be the idle speed set wrongly or the fuel pump govenor ....... ?

Check the vacuumpipe from inlet manifold to governor housing.
May be false connection .
Or it can be a leak in the governor diphragm

If you have a vacuum governed pump it could also be the pump diaphragm.
