New owner (sort of) with a project on the cards!
Hey all, found this forum the other day while scouring the net for info on Super Dexta's.
I've been given a mission by my father in law, he's got what I believe to be a 62 Super Dexta in a bad state in one of his fields and said if I wanna fix it up for my son (he's only 2 but loves tractors) he'll fund it.
It originally got parked up years ago when the rad went and it never got replaced, unfortunately now its in pretty bad shape. Engines probably seized and will require all new grill, mudguards, engine covers, seat, etc.... but as I'm not in a rush I'm sure something good can come of it!
One other thing, I know nothing about tractors at all or engine mechanics really but I am into Jap cars and my old mans a mechanic so I'm sure I can blag my way through the job.
I'm sure I'll be getting loads of good advice from everyone on here so thanks in advance!
Oh yeah, managed to get the code off the side which is 957E 7005 T3 K9H, not had chance to look for the rest yet but all in good time!!

Welcome to the board. K9H makes her an August 1962 but other numbers like this will confirm it.
The 957E numbers mean nothing as they are mould numbers and the same on every tractor.

Does your engine have any frost damage - cracks in the block usually just below the cylinder head? If not, you're lucky as we were. That makes engine rebuild fairly straight forward.
Drag her out and pressure wash her - she'll look better already. Get her under cover then the fun may begin.

Are those rear wheels original - Dexta hubs have 3 holes around the periphery?

Great Crusty Critters!
She's a rusty one. But then again, I've restored Great Iron Budas that were in worse shape. Just pick up some tools and bow down to it as you remove and replace pieces, and after a time, everything will look better with paint and TLC.

Both our '62 Super Dexta's here in Canada with original 24"wheels have no holes.
Were wheel weights not available for the Super Dexta or maybe the 24" wheels?

looks like it has seen better days, but also looks mostly complete. nosecone and wings often replaced anyway in restoration. engine often rebuilt. just hope you can get the pistons out. gearbox probs work fine with oil change and the backend will be interesting with the hydraulics. a quick test that might be of use, if the clutch works disengauge it and wedge it down, engauge the pto, raise the lever in the quadrent for the rear linkage. and rotate the pto with a large spanner, this should make the lift arms raise. (might help with getting out the field)

Thanks, my first job is going to be clearing out under one of the sheds so I've got a workspace! On the subject of rear wheel weights for Dexta's/Super Dexta/New Perfomance Dexta,they were an optional extra that you could purchase from your dealer.As for fitting rear wheel weights to Dexta's with 24" rims, if no bolt holes were in the rims you just had to drill them yourself.
