Engine parts arrived - Feedback plus some questions

Post by russelm »

Hi All

Some good news, my key engine re-build items have arrived today and again, some feedback on the supplier.

I ordered said items from emmark for a few reasons

1) Thier engine rebuild kit did not include valve train components which I dont need as I have a new head (ordered from Agrline)

2) I had a few minor isues with the head from Agriline and was not overly impressed with the lack of interest from them (I emailed them, twice and called them but the impression was one of little interest).

3) Competitive price

Anyway, the items have arrived and appear good quality on first inspection, all items present, pistons are made by AP, good price, good service (they had no top end gasket kit but committed to calll me back when it had arrived in, which they did).

So very happy.

Although I wont be in need of the bottom end items for a few weeks, I do need the top end bits to complete partial assembly of the heads (e.g. gaskets for combustion chamber covers and end plates etc etc)

As for the question, is it worth adding some sealent to the gaskets for the stat housing, head end plate, inlet manifold etc?

I've never heard of Emmark, but looks a useful Co from their website, especially for Perkins and Ford parts.
All the best with the rebuild,

Yes, first impressions are that they are a wholesaler but, they happily supply to Joe Public which is good news.

The re-build kit was 115 plus VAT and delivery so pretty competitive with some items being slightly higher and others a bargain (e.g. a standard Dexta wiring loom is about 35 quid!).

They are the third supplier I have used so far and I would rate the 3 based on my personal experience as follows:

Agriline - 6/10
Souther counties tractor spares - 7/10
emmark - 9/10

To these I add would Malcolm Hipperson at 9/10. Very helpful, only thing is they seem to like their holidays
