??How to sort posts??

Hi I am not much with computers. Could someone explain how to sort the posts so they will come up in the order that they were posted to the web. My screen the posts are all over the place not in the calander order that they were posted

SCroll to the bottom of the index page and you will see 3 boxes.
Sort by date and decending in the next box.
