Plate fitting on guard between engine and battery

Hi all
Just woundering what side origionaly did the two black plates go on the side next the battery or sode next the engine? :?
Any help would be great

Hi Kyle, hope your restoration is going well. Can I assume you are meaning the plate which the air filter fits on, if so, one side is insulated and that side faces the engine :buddies:

If you are refering to the black 'boiler plates' about Ford product, patents etc, my 1961 Dexta has only one such plate and it's riveted on top of the asbestos firewall facing the engine. :wink:
