1964 Super Dexta

Post by Girardo »

I have owned my 1964 Super Dexta since 1989. It has been a very good tractor. Mostly use it for bushhogging and dragging logs. I have kept up all the maintenance and once spilt the tractor, installed new tranny seals, checked engine bearing clearances, new radiator hoses and such. I have always had a problem with the bush hog drifting downwards. I watched a hydraulic top cover rebuild video on you tube by the Chicken House Mechanic. It shows it covers 1955 to 1964 Ford tractors. Does anyone know if this applies to the Super Dexta? Thanks.

That is the American range, and although very similar, Dexta's are a bit different, as are Super Major's (more so). I recommend you look at the manual, it'll keep you right on everything. Before dismantling test to see if it changes with the external service valve pulled out, that will help find where the leak is from, also if gear selection gets harder with the topper raised. I suspect it's a very big leak.
