Dexta nose badge

What colour scheme should a '64 Dexta nose badge be? Also, what other colours were used on Fordsons generally? Thanks.

The colours up to 1957 were these (Billy's badge)

from 1957 to 1963 this is what the badge looked like (Davie's badge) (the words SUPER MAJOR were in black on Super Major's, Super Dexta's had an orange background)

and all NP Fordson's had this (Super Billy's one), the same as the previous one but only NP grey (the words SUPER MAJOR were in NP grey on Super Major's, Super Dexta's had an NP grey background).

Thanks for that, it's a shame they did away with the multiple colours later on, I guess single colour badges were cheaper to produce?
I've a feeling the owner will probably go for the colours now we've seen them. I know it's wrong, but it's not my machine.

Better pics here. The early type ceased from 1420356, so a few Mk1 Major's had the orange type. Not sure what you mean by colours. If you go for the early type the background is Empire blue (if you do it on a NP better to use NP blue to get it to match), the gear is half E27N blue half white and the hand is red oxide. Not sure what yellow they used on the wheatsheaf itself. There was an industrial version, never seen one but Allan T Condie mentions it. Once stocks of early bonnets were used up, spark ignition tractors used the Major Diesel bonnet with a plain Fordson Major badge modified to fit, all tractors from 1420356 to 1481091 used this (except 9 pre production Power Major's), the Power Major badge also fits the same holes.

By 'colours', I was looking at your first pic of the up to 1957 badge. It looks like more care was taken and more interesting by bringing out the details set into it.
Thankfully I won't be the one doing the painting!

I agree that that was the best badge (again, can't say about the industrial version, I suspect it would have been on par with this one at the time) I suspect Ford wanted more badges than J Fray could paint, leading to the change, all the more relevant once the Dexta came on line. I wouldn't say that, with a wee and medium modelling brush and patience you can do it easily in about half an hour for the later types, the early one is probably an hour with the fiddly stuff but then I like trying out my painting precision, I need to do Mr MacGregor some time, and there I'll have to do it completely by measuring.
