I have just got 2 'new' rear wheel centres.
One is new and is made of steel 3/8" thick.
The other is 2nd hand and is only 1/4" thick.

Can someone tell me what thickness rear wheel centres should be and if 1/4" thickness is adequate.
Many thanks,
Ben

Hello Ben,

I think 3/8" is a sort of heavy duty. The one on my major that comes from Brian are heavy duty rim plates and only 1/4"thick.

I recently "aquired" a set of rims(off an International) and the centres on these are 3/8, and 5/16 thick.
I don't feel so bad now. I've only got a 1/16 difference, not a 1/8 diff.

Heavy Duty Rear Wheel centre - GKN Nagbol

I've just bought another heavy duty rear wheel centre, see orange centre in the photo. Forgive the grey paint on the other Dexta centre.

The orange one is 3/8" thick and has 3 holes in the dish, so I assume it was made for a Dexta. It is marked Nagbol, which seems to be a Danish factory owned by GKN.

BTW are the three holes in the dish for wheel weights?

All the best,

Ben
