i have oil seeping into brakes via drive shaft.
i have looked at repair manual and replacing outer seal looks to be out of mechanical range, can i just slip on a inner seal or will both have to be done.
mine is 1959 so i guess it will have the pressue fitting and not a nut.
thanks brett

When the seals started leaking on my Dexta my first thought was that this was too big a job for me.
In the end I removed the axles myself and took them to a local tractor refurbisher who replaced the outer seal and collar.
Removing and replacing the axles is very straightforward if you follow the manual (although I did not find it necessary to remove the brake shoes and back plates with the axles - these were left in situ) .
If the bearings are replaced you will need to reset the endfloat - using a dial gauge with a magnetic base to set the end float (instead of the feeler gauge method in the manual) makes this operation relatively easy. I had to make a couple of shims using shim plate to get the endfloat correct.
