Hi,

Not sure if anyone else has come across this problem before!

I have some replacement thrust washers for the engine in my Dexta, however, they are different to the ones originally fitted.

See the picture below (Click the picture for a bigger version)


The bottom one is the new/replacement the top one is the worn original. As you can see the retaining spigot is not only in a different place, but is also a different shape too!

I intend to contact the supplier, but I can only see one type listed on their website.

Does anyone know where I can buy the correct replacement thrust washers?

I think you you should contact the seller. What is the manufaktor? When i overhauled my Ford 3000 engine i got Bepco journals and i think they are good cuality.

I had this problem with my engine rebuild. I think that they changed to new standard type thrust washer some time in 1959, when the 3 cylinder Perkins engine was fitted in the MF 35. I could not find any of the old stlye so I ended up refitting the old ones which were just within tolerance.

I did consider fitting the new version rotated within the housing (i.e. not horizontal) but was not sure of the wisdom of doing this so played safe.

I remember this coming up on the board before..a search on this subject may be fruitful.
I ran into this when rebuilding my '59 also. The thrust bearing did change at some point.
since I didn't want to reuse my old ones, I milled a slot in the bearing cap to match the tab on the new style thrust bearings. very easy bit of machining to do. ( I am not a machinist by training..and I did this myself at a friends shop)...
I was not able to find any of of the old style parts. That was a couple of years ago and situation may have changed since?

I think it must have been my lucky day today!

After about 20 phone calls I managed to track down a new old stock set!

I would tell you who supplied them, but they don't have any more so not much point really.

However, the supplier of the original, incorrect set, did say that they are looking into having some re-manufactured. This was Agriline by the way. I am seriously impressed by their attitude towards us tractor people as they always try to help!

First post so hopefully it works. I have come across the same problem of needing the older style of thrust washers. Has anyone found a solution that i don't have to mill the bearing cap? or a supplier of the old style washers?
