I found this on one of the mounting holes under my old diesel tank

It is about 1/4" thick. The blue coloured material is very hard, just about solid.
What should the tank be mounted on? Some filler-like material that goes hard, or some rubber material to damp vibrations?

all the ones i've taken off have had bits of rubber like the rubbers the rad mounts on..

There is arubber vibration pad under each screw hole of the tank . im not sure of the thickness but 1/4 inch sounds about right, has to be thick enough to cushion vibration. Gerry
