clutch pedal shaft bush

Post by Jerry Coles »

Hi all
I need to replace my clutch padal shaft bush and I've been told all you have to do is remove the clutch pedal and PTO lever and knock through the old bush into the diff and then just tap in the new bush.
Is this reccommended? Presumably the old bush will just stay on the shaft inside the diff and won't come to or cause harm.
Kinda odd isn't it that we use those well abused words 'all' and 'just' when you know there could be a whole lot of work involved in achieving the objective.
All opinions gratefully received.

Regards

To remove the clutch pedal remove the left hand footplate ,mind the electric cable ,disconnect the clutch release rod from the clutch pedal. Remove the cotter bolt from the pto shifter arm and then the pto shifter arm,
Remove the clutch pedal . The bush can be driven out with a suitable piece of round material, and a new one driven in.
Please check the surface of the bearing surface on the pto shifter plate, as its normal that it is worn as well. On my tractor had to rework it on the lathe.
Think it is described on Stefans site.
