having baught my dexta last year in august as a restoration project i have hit a few problems. one of them being the external services.
i understand that the external services pull lever stops the hydraulics from going down and thats about it, but my 1960 standard dexta has another thing in the middle of the top cover that super dextas have i belive it should have a rod on connected to a spring of sum sort but i need some help.
please tell me how to upload pictures!

I think you're talking about the flow control device that later Dextas have.
Suggest you search for this, or view the dexta manual or perhaps purchase a operator's manual.

Yes it's the flow control device that limits the rate at which the hydraulics responds by adjusting the knob. You should have a link rod to the hydraulic quadrant. It's main purpose is when plouhing in 'qualitrol' (ie draft) mode, to adjust the rate at which the hydraulics responds to changing loads on the top-link control spring, as the plough responds to changing ground conditions.

link to my album , u can see the link arm , and in the next photo too.

i can take more if it helps
the black knurled plastic knob screws in / out to adjust the speed as ben said.
but thinking about it u need the link arm because its the coil spring on the quadrant end that pulls the flow response knob, no spring on the adjuster end.
hope this makes sense ?
tom
the F ast S slow letters are cast below the adjuster arm , does you're twist / rotate a bit or is it siezed?
u should notice the change in lift speed on the arms

The rods you want are parts 12 & 17 in the parts list (05B01 HYDRAULIC LIFT, RAM CYLINDER & RELATED PARTS). Part 14 is a spring that sits under 12.

Picture is of "my" petrol Dexta and she has a starting handle which is what you see. As Rich says, same position as the "Grey Menace"!

Try Malcolm Hipperson or Bertie Dunlop in N Ireland.
