Hi
Just got the engine in bits on my Dexta as it needs re-lining. The crank is good but I am going to put new shells in it whilst it is apart. How do I tell if the shells are standard or O/S? Is it obvious?!
Cheers.

Re: Shell Bearings
hi they are usually stamped on reverse side of shell ,as u will see when u take them out of conrod ,,or cap ends (stn) or (os)
but make sure crank is deffinitely ok before u just fit shells .its a lot of work .just for the sake of getting it checked out
good luck davy

Re: Shell Bearings
Cheers for the reply. The crank looks good but I think I'll take your advice and get it checked anyway. The con and main shells in it dont have STD or OS stamped on them though. theres the letters pv in a circle and 2777 next to them. the other side has 0050234 on it. Reckon these are the originals?
