Hi There fellow dexta addicts
Could somebody tell me the correct hood badges that go each side for a 1958 model dexta. Is it the embossed metal FORDSON lettering or the FORDSON DEXTA all on the one badge? I want to order a couple out of UK probably from Agriline
Another question why is there a difference in "wheatsheaf badges" with one having an orange background only and another style having 5 diffent colours on the same badge? Mind you the later looks impressive.
I have only seen plain chrome badge or orange background type here is Aust.
Thanks
Bradson
Dexta Hood Side Badges
Re: Dexta Hood Side Badges
I don't believe a 58 Dexta has any hood (bonnet) side badges, only the vertical badge on the nose cone between the grills.bradson wrote:Could somebody tell me the correct hood badges that go each side for a 1958 model dexta. Is it the embossed metal FORDSON lettering or the FORDSON DEXTA all on the one badge?
Bensdexta - 1961 working for a living!
Re: Dexta Hood Side Badges
Hello Ben I presume
Looks like there has been somthing there at some stage as the holes are set distance on both sides of hood in alignment as if a badge was on each side. I have seen two 59 models here and they have a different badge all together with "diesel powered" embossed in chrome lettering down each side. I haven't seen that anywhere before but seeing two at different locations confirmed that must have been a combo of some kind.
I also saw a petrol dexta few weeks ago at rally and it had the badge with "ford dexta" all in one like what you see in agriline catalogue.
I think I am more confused now that ever or when they did exports to Auzz they did whatever they wanted that looked good!!

Re: Dexta Hood Side Badges
Barry M will be able to give you a definitive reply but all the Aus Dexta leaflets I have seen are just like the European badges.
1 .. 1957 to 1960 .. Badge down the centre of the front cowl. No bonnet badges.
2 .. 1960 to 1963 Dexta .. as this:

Badges on both sides of bonnet.
3 .. 1963 to end of production .. Stick on decals on bonnet in the same position as badges.
The Super Dexta, in 1962 had a small "Fordson" badge on the bonnet and "Super Dexta" on the front of the nose cone. The "Fordson" badge was deleted in 1963.
I have seen "Diesel Powered" on a number of Fordsons in Australia including Dextas.
