Tach drive gear replacement?

Hello
My neighbors dexta has a new tach and a good cable, but the drive from the rear of the IP is worn out and will not turn the cable.

I have removed the 4 bolts from the rear of the IP but the gear housing is frozen in place-is there anything more required to remove that gear/housing?

On a side note, the fuel tap/plunger under the tank has ben replaced with new and now the engine floods with fuel through the line going to the intake heater.
Is there a check valve in the tap apparatus that can be serviced or should I add a tap to that line-replacing the tank valve again is not an option at this point.

I added a shut off valve to mine. As for the injector pump you would be money ahead if you took it to a specialist, not just anybody can work on those.

The tachometer is driven by a square hole in the end of the injection pump camshaft! It is not reccommended that injection pumps be stripped down unless you have the specialised calibrating equipment and the knowledge to use it.

Racer,
When I got my Super Dexta the tach was trashed and the cable was missing. Bought both and installed them but it didn't work. Thought I had the same problem you're speaking of. Found out that you can actually install the cable and miss getting it into the drive hole on the injector pump. Fished around a little and it went in and started working. All is good now.
The primer bulb feeds an atomizer on your intake manifold that is actually a check valve also. Inside the atomizer are a a ball and spring. Perhaps it's gummed up. A little carb cleaner while working the ball in and out might cure your problem.
The atomizer was also missing from my tractor when I bought it. So it loaded up on fuel like yours when I hooked it up. They are no longer available with the check valve built in.( "Export " model ) But you can still get the "Domestic" model from the U.K. which has a manual valve built in. But you have to open and close it manually every time you use it.
I installed one from a Ferguson that has a bi-metallic valve built into the heater plug. It opens when the heater plug gets hot, lets the fuel into the heater plug Then closes when the heater plug cools.Works great !
