Should dynamo get hot when running? and oil leak pic

As per the title really..when I go to start my dexta, there seems to be a large draw of current to the dynamo?
And the engine spins over a little quicker if I disconnect the 2 wires on the dynamo. Going to check the wiring diagram tomorrow but should the dynamo get even remotely warm when engines running? As mine is seeming to get HOT. Charge light comes on with ignition on, goes out when engine fires. Oil light doesn't come on at all currently
Next is this freak oil leak at the front of the engine, crank seal you say? Not this time. you see the puddle of oil sat on the flat face of the block, its running down the seam at the back and dripping off the flat face. Where the end of the screwdriver is pointing, I notice a bit of breathing from this area too.

Engine is 90% healthy I'd say, only slight hint of blue smoke on overrun, and recently fitted a new wiring loom.
Thanks in advance
