VonZu's '62 Super Dexta

Post by VonZU »

This is my '62 Super Dexta. At least I think it's a '62.

It's the first tractor I remember driving as a kid, and I'm keeping it forever. It's one of the most important relics in my family :D

A while ago, the head gasket blew between two of the cylinders. It's quite a while ago, and I cant remember which ones.
The head was sent off to refurbishment at a local engine shop.

Now, this is quite some time ago, and much has been forgotten.
Recently I startet assembling again, and came to a halt because I couldn't remember if there were washers under the head retaining nuts.

When I zoom in on this picture, it seems like there are washers.

But today, I have none. The head is put back, but I haven't torqued it up.

Can anyone confirm that I lack these washers, and maybe provide some dimensions and materials to allow me to purchase new ones?
I have the workshop manual for the tractor, but it isn't much help in this respect.

Currently, the tractor is in my workshop awaiting surgery in several areas. I really hope I can manage to get it back out and running before spring.

And several parts are lined up for the task :)

It's made by a local Norwegian company called "Malm Orstad". They made a lot of front loaders for Fordsons and Fords. Mainly two versions, the "agricultural" and the "industrial". This one is an agricultural.

I don't know exactly. In the rear I get approx 1000kg all the way up. Any more than that, and I will have to use persuasive means to get it up :) I can keep 1300kg up, if I "persuade" it up first.
In the front it's above 1000kg, but not by much. Max 1200kg I assume.

I'm from Jæren. 50km south of Stavanger.

The 754 is in a sorry state at the moment. It's been used hard for a lifetime, but is not beyond repair.
I'll make a project thread on it as soon as we start working on it again.

That's a big lift, hydraulics must be in good condition.

The parts list mentions a washer for one of the head studs, but not the others. Also no mention of washers in the workshop manual.

I'm sure one of the experts will be along to answer soon.

Happy Christmas.

I think I know which one bolt you refer to. It's the one all the way to the rear.

Yes, I hope some experts can clarify this for me. I don't want to put it back together with more errors than it had :)

Yes, it's not bad at all. But it has been maintained fairly well by my father through the years. Presicion on the hydraulics is another thing. That could absolutely have been better. But I'm not doing anything with that for now. It works well enough for my use as it is. Other things don't.

I found some old pictures of it, from when it was a proper workhorse in more or less daily use.
We never used the front loader on it much, as we had the 754 with a substantially stronger and better front loader.
