Have you checked the voltage across the battery terminals when you rev the engine - it should be around 14V?

How old is your control box? It may be u/s.

Have a read of this:

Have you put a complete new harness in. If you have a 12v supply to the dynamo through the small wire you should have over 14v coming out of the big wire. If you do its your control box

Did you flash the Dynamo?

The system works by some residual magnetism in the dynamo producing a voltage as it starts to rotate, once it gets upto speed, this volatge pulls in a contact in the regulator and the field is energised.

If you dont flash the dynamo then there will be no volts to pull the contact in.

Hit it on the side with something solid on the other side.
And start a new subject thread on this problem!

Ball joint splitter. Put some weight on and give it a knock with a hammer. It will come straight off.

Unless you have wired it wrong the sender unit is faulty in the block. Check the resistance when the engine is stopped and when you start it the resistance should change.
Or you have low oil pressure lol

The Oil pressure switch works by open circuiting the connector when the pressure is reached, this removes the return from the Oil lamp to ground. If you oil lamp is on all the time try disconnecting the wire from the oil switch - the lamp should go out. If it doesn't go out then that wire is grounded somewhere from the lampholder down. Possibly crushed or damaged. If the lamp does go out then the oil pressure switch is suspect or you have no/insufficient oil pressure!
You can get an adapter to take an oil pressure gauge which will give you a more accurate idea of your oil pressure.
If you want to borrow one I have one so PM me and I'll send it off to you. I rebuilt a Dexta engine and it was with great relief that I saw the needle on the gauge go up as it fired up for the first time. :D

Hi Jerry,
Have you a pic or a description of your adapter and oil pressure gauge?
Where did you get it?
Cheers!

Oil pressure guage
You may have to get another adaptor to take the later thread size (try a plumbers merchants or hydraulic agent)

I think you want to get a good idea of your actual oil pressure. Private Message (PM) me with your address and I'll loan you my oil pressure gauge.
You can then monitor the pressure over the rev range.
Have you done anything to the oil system?

If the light comes on at idle and goes out as you increase the RPM's it's working as it should.

Just like to tell everyone i have fixed the issue with the lights, on the dynamo side the lights were earthing to the metal even tho i got the ones with the rubber coat over them so i have changed them for a different kind so thats all good my oil pressure still needs to be tested but should be ok :)
