winter is comming, how to drain water from dexta.

Post by dexta61 »

Hello again,

I want to drain all the water from my dexta, because winter is comming. Now I have seen a drain point at the radiator, but is this enough drain point enough to get all the water out of the system. Or is there an other drain point that needs to be opened?
I just bought a DEXTA

I would not drain the water but use a 50/50 antifreeze solution. This will keep the water pump lubricated and stop corrosion inside the engine. It will also insure that no little pockets of water are left to freeze.

Brian, but if I had at the moment no other option would removing the rubber hose to the lowest connection to the radiator remove all water. And how much water is in the system of a dexta?

The hose would not drain the block completely, it is better to do it through the taps. She holds 8.52l or around 2 gallons.

Hi,
Pending a definitive reply from Brian, my Dexta has a block drain tap left side lower rear of the engine block. I'm pretty sure the block + radiator drains are the only ones.
There's a bit about it in

All the best,
Ben

Standard antifreeze is OK, even the basic is pretty high spec now. Yes as the previous post there is a block drain tap and a radiator drain tap, block drain tap is the most important as, in a hard frost the block is the weak point.
