There are 2 mixture screws on the carb. The larger one facing the dynamo is the main jet and controls full throttle mixture. Set to 3 1/2 turns.

The smaller screw, facing outwards, is the idle mixture. Manual does not give a setting for this, just saying adjust for correct running at idle.

I think they are the same as a MF35/135 petrol. Have a look at www.bareco.com.au on the MF page they list a replacement carb. No doubt other suppliers have the same carb available. I am assuming they fit, so do ask the supplier. What,s your one doing?

the carb has a constant flow of gas coming out after shutting off. had it apart and seen the needle valve is getting wore and a bit sticky and the float is also sticking up on its shaft. not sure whether to buy a carb kit that will cost me 100$ or a carb for 260$. ill take the carb apart again and if i can fix the float ill just get a gasket and needle valve kit from zenith.

Carb service kit seems a bit expensive. I used a Sparex kit on mine and it contained new needle, gaskets, shaft, bearings and throttle plate. Cost £15.inc VAT and has made a terrific difference to how she runs.

Hi Islander,
Welcome to the board. Lots of great guys here and great help.
Nice to see a fellow Canadian and one with a Petrol Dexta!

Brian,

I could use a little help with installing the carb kit.
What did you use to enlarge the carb throttle shaft holes for the plastic bearing inserts?
Drill bit, reamer or...and what diameter?
Just free hand?
No instructions with the Sparex kit I got.

Where did you source your kit?
The Sparex carb kit S42541 gets close to $100 CDN delivered from our suppliers over here.

Thanks,
Les

Hi Les,

I did not use the plastic bushes, the throttle rod was a perfect fit without them on Dotty. Will check with my supplier about the cost, could be a chance for a bit of trade between ourselves. :D :buddies:

Sounds good Brian,
I do need another carb kit.

Maybe I was worrying too much.... hope it's only the shaft that's worn here too.
