I was wondering what size of snowblower to put on my dexta. I was looking at a 72" dual stage single auger blower. The guy said it works fine on any 30 to 40 hp tractor. Any thoughts?

hi I,ve been told the rule of thumb is 10hp per foot .I am thinking of looking for a 48 or 60 for my dexta . A 72 may be to much in a heavy wet snow clayton

Actually I did pick up a 7 foot single auger dual stage blower. It works extremely well on the dexta, the extra weight of the blower is great traction in the snow and being 7 feet wide it cuts a path wider than the dexta. It will blow light fluffy snow about 40 feet away and it will cut a path into 2 to 3 feet of snow at the end of the road with little resistance. All in all I am extremely pleased with picking up a larger snow blower

That's great news!
I have been considering a snowblower but was also concerned how much a Dexta could handle.
What make and model did you settle on?
Cheers,
Les

As far as the make goes, I was told it was a ford snowblower? It has been painted before but it is in quite good shape. The gear box was clean and the gear drive was in good order. It has a hydraulic chute which is really nice. I just disconnected the hydraulics from the front end loader and use the bucket control for the chute cylinder.
