transmission+pto input shaft movement

While I was out inspecting the bellhousing during the clutch replacement I found that the PTO input shaft has around 1/8 inch (3 to 4 MM) up and down movement. This happens when I grab the transmission input shaft and lift up. The transmission shaft and PTO shaft move up and down together. After reading the manual, I see that the PTO input shaft comes out as an assembly. Am I likely to get by with only replacing the PTO bearings or is the transmission shaft also going to need to be serviced? Or do I just need to disassemble the shaft to inspect the bearings and shaft? I am going now to search for bearing part numbers, if anyone has them handy please post them.
Thanks, Terry

There will always be a lot of movement on those shafts when the tractor is split because it is the "toe" bearing in the fly wheel that gives the rigidity.

Unless you had noticed a "bearing roar" from the clutch housing you will be OK. There is a needle roller bearing between the two shafts and a seal at the front.

Unless oil is dripping from between the two shafts I think I would let it go. The seal and the roller bearing could be hard to find.
