Removal of lower link pins

Hi All,
any tips on removing a badly rusted lower link pin. The trumpet is off and nut/washer removed on inside. I've tried some heat but not sure how far to push the heating thing.
Looking at the new replacement pin, there is a big surface (capable of binding) on those two cones.

Larger hammer? :? :?

John,
The pins will be tight as they are tapered and tighten on the taper when the nut is tightened up. I would get a deep impact socket to fit over the outer part of the pin to sit flush on the trumpet to give the casing support if possible so as when you give the pin a good crack with the hammer all the force will be on the pin and not the housing to prevent damaging it. If possible give the housing a bit of heat and not the pin but it should come out with a good couple of cracks with the hammer. It will be a 2 man job. Good luck.

Regards,
Charlie
