proofmeter querry

Post by sky blue »

hi all, back to the proof meter, mine has started to play up
i have found the meter is ok by disconnecting at injection pump
and turning square end on cable which workes meter ok
this means where cable joines i/pump is problem
seems to have rounded in pump thingy
i have seen adoptors on line which can fit over shaft and accept cable
but not for dexta /s/dexta,
does anyone know if any one makes such an adoptor, :scratchhead:

if no adaptors or solutions are found as a last resort you could put a small amount of JBweld in the rounded area and insert the cable tight. Leave it for a few hours and the JBweld should fill any gaps. Its quite hard, can even be tapped for threads.

Hi,

I put a piece of wood (e.g. a match) together with the cable in the pump. Works since five years ... but depends on how round the hole is.

right tried a couple of the above posts but could not get any
of them to work , tried to get a little piece of wood in but this
prove more than a match for my fingers ,
and diddnt want to get a bit of wood lost inside pump
so after a bit of thought i think i remember
someone i think it was brian saying to tap the square end between two hammers,
so i done this a pushed it back in and it worked
dont know how long for but have meter working
again

I think flattening the cable a little bit is the most permanent solution but the other methods are good for temporary experimentation or if access is made difficult by e.g. loader frame etc.,
I couldn’t quite find enough room to hammer, too busy to do much demounting, so managed a bodge with a couple of layers of heat shrink tubing over the end of the wire. Remains to be seen how long it holds, hoping for enough hours to see me into next spring.
