Interesting Oil Leak

Hi All,
I have a new 63 dexta and I am just getting used to its noises, smells and leaks. One leak is from the motor. The flow comes from a small oval shaped vent on the underside. It drips about once every two seconds. Its very black, while the oil in the dipstick is a nice amber color. It only leaks when I start up the machine, and then only until I warm her up, then it stops.
Name that leak!

Hi Steve,

As the oil is black,it probably comes from the engine.
That the dipstick shows amber oil surprises me,after an oilchange the new oil is black within 5 minutes in my tractor.

I think it is the rear crankshaft seal which is leaking a bit.
Replacing it is not difficult, but a lot of work.
You'll have to take the engine off.

I guess you are not in a hurry, since the leaking stops after a few minutes.
But i suspect it will get worse over time.

Greetings from the Netherlands.
Rob.

If the crankcase breathing is not working properly it is possible that a little pressure is building up that forces the oil out that way. If you open the oilfiller cap when running the engine you can se if there is comming smoke out.
