1958 Dexta idling adjustment

Post by Tim Comer »

The idling speed has slowly increased over the last twelve months or so, the adjustment on the air intake was to the minimum so I adjusted the control rod adjacent to the battery to get the idle speed to about 650 ish, but when working there is now a slight reduction in power output, can anyone advise another method of adjustment?

Regards Tim.

Tim,
Sounds like you might have a governor problem. Do you have a pneumatic or mechanical governor? If it's pneumatic, the diaphragm might be leaking or the spring is weak.
