would anyone know if is it legal to to drive a dexta tractor on the public road with double wheels an if so
is the dexta made to be fitted with double wheels thanks in advance skyblue

I don't think dual wheels were available for Dextas (not sure about that), they certainly were for Majors; as for the public road, I'm afraid I don't know that.

Here and in the netherlands these where available by taking another pair of standard wheels and adding the molcon wheel system to it.
same system for cage wheels.

You’ll need a set of male/female adaptor nuts. For example 5585 from Agriline. Use these to secure the original wheels, then a second set, reversed. Standard wheels, nothing extra.
As for the width, you’d probably be much narrower than many big modern tractors.

Here is a link to the RSA (Road Safety Authority Ireland) fact sheet pdf. It has information regarding maximum widths for tractors with flotation tyres or dual wheels. I've seen plenty of people down at the bog with flotation wheels on their vintage tractors, I presume they drive them on the road, although I suppose they could be bringing the extra wheels down on the trailer to the bog and putting them on when they get there. I suppose you would need to think about the widths of the roads you are travelling on too, some of the boreen's (narrow country roads) around here are fairly narrow, especially if you meet someone coming the other way.

The width is an important point for driving, our tracks couldn't take dual wheels as they would be too wide.

i was able to get job done without the need for doubles as
the ground is so dry here at the moment. but the info will be
useful in the future.
