Dexta steering nut

Post by duffincart »

Hi
This is where i am with on going steering nut issues.
I ordered a new steering nut and bearing kit from a breaker as i was ordering other parts at the time so it made sense.
Upon trying to fit i found it wouldn’t start/fit but would go on upside down, up to the last few turns. I contacted and returned it. Due to the fact that he didn’t receive it when i phoned him and it seemed we had a postal problem, i ordered a new one from a online parts supplier that is well known to this forum.
Eck, it didnt fit either, is it my worm, you ask.
I rang the original supplier and he said he had at last received it and yes it didn’t fit on his worm shaft either.
He had contacted his supplier for a new one and will send it to me when he gets it.
He said they had a bad batch from the manufacturers.
I asked him to try before sending. He agreed. This was last week so we hoped i would get the replacement end of this week, not got it yet. Haven’t pestered him yet.
I would appreciate any information or experience any body has had on this.
King regards

I'm afraid we haven't needed a steering nut, but be very careful with repro parts in general, as they are very often wrong.

Thanks Sandy
The splines on the original one are very poor.
I will keep you posted, did you mean most parts or steering in particular?

I mean most parts, some cosmetic ones being the worst.
