Hello everyone,
I'm Jonathan from Germany.
After spending hours looking for the chassis number and the year of manufacture, I have to ask your great knowledge for help:
For background, I bought a Ford (probably 2000 or Dexta). According to the Vehicle registration document it is built in 10/1965
2.1: 1005
2.2: 290
Chassis number according to Vehicle registration document A-114887.
There is also an old Vehicle registration document that says year of construction 10/1965.
There is no type label available.
Now I was able to find a chassis number on the right side (above the threaded holes for mounting the front loader on the right side):
C1013C
8D5B
A ??????? (can no longer be read because it is damaged)
According to an English page (vintage Tractor Engineer) this is:
C1013C
C=3000
10=Agricultural all purpose
1=diesel
3=Live PTO 540
C=8 speed
8D5B
8=1968
D=April
5=5th day of the month
B=Day shift
It has an 8-speed gearbox and runs over 30
It has the "gills" on the hood
It has a handbrake on the left and an old parking brake on the right (small lever between the foot accelerator and differential lock), which was somehow fixed.
It says C5NN7006BY on the gearbox and C7NN615AH on the engine
underneath it appears to be the serial number: C200003
And to make the confusion perfect: on the frame under the center axle bolt of the front axle: C5NN3A042C FOMOCO SE
Now to my question: how can that be? Was a replacement engine ever installed here? what year and model is it? If I ever need spare parts, what data should I use?
I hope I have reported in enough detail and hopefully there will be someone who can help me here.

I am already grateful for your help.
Kind regards
schwan

Hi,

The serial is the A 114887 and proves this is an Antwerp build Ford 2000. For UK and some European countries these were also labelled in the old style names. That makes sense with the construction of 10/65. The C5NN numbers do not mean much. They are part nos of the rough castings. I think you’re right with deciding the other parts. Separate main assemblies do have their own serial nos who are not the same as the vin number.

Hi Emiel,
Thanks for your answer.
I thought the 8-speed gearbox was only built in 1968, which made me a little doubtful.

Which box were depends on country specs. 8 box was standard and for I think france and Germany an extra plunger was fitted between the high low selector shaft and the selector shaft for 4th gear, preventing shifting in 4 high.

Where in Germany are you located? It can be a Dutch or Belgian import for example with different gearbox specs.

In Germany, only tractors that drove at a maximum speed of 20 km/h were allowed in the past.
You're right about the extra piston. Most farmers removed this themselves with a saw. I´ve read in another forum that these 8-speed transmissions were only delivered from 1968 with eighth gear locked.

I live in Bavaria.

Hi, I live near the Ruhrgebiet. Bit to far to come over to check the tractor out 😜.

Not many fords in Fendt country i suspect. You don’t see many in this side of Germany at least.

Much more fendt, cormick or deutz in the neighbourhood.
It's difficult to find a ford, but it's more difficult to find one similar to mine. :(

And the serial on the engine:
C200003
Can anyone provide information about the year of manufacture based on these serial number?
