My 1960 Dexta is gradually being brought up to an acceptable standard, but needs to be ready to work my smallholding. Repairs as and when necessary. How much vertical play should I expect in the kingpins?

If you have replaced the thrust bearings, about 1/8th of an inch up to around 3/16th of an inch.
