Hedgecutting

Post by Kiwi Kev »

Guys
When I was in New Zealand last week visiting my homeland, I found some photos in the cupboard.
My brother was an agricultural contractor, and this was his hedgecutter, for cutting barbary hedges. Alot of New Zealand farms have these hedges.
The photo was taken back in the early 1980's. Abit different to the types of rear mounted hedgecutters of today.
He used it for hedgecutting for about 9 months of the year, and then took it off to do silage.
Warning. Sorry about the bluriness

It was a Ford 7000 which was later repowered with a 7600 engine.
If only we still had that tractor today. Atleast we still have the photo.

Hey Swandri Guy, do you recognise the hill/mountain in the background?

Hi Kiwi Kev,my first guess would be on the east side of Kakepuku, near Pokuru but it could be Mount Pirongia from the otherside.Did you get all the parts you needed for your Major? Cheers The Swanndri Guy. (Also on "Trademe"#250033871 there is a Ford County 1164 6 cylinder for sale.) :yeah:

Swandri Guy.
Your educated guess was correct. Kakepuku, but can't remember from which side.
I will look up the County tonight.(better not do it at work).
I see you sorted out your signiture!

Kev, looking more closely at the picture, with the tractors shadow and the buildings in the background, I think its from the northwest side. Its also steeper than it looks. One of my cousins used to work out there on a farm which had land going up the mountain.(Probably whats behind your brother.)As for my signiture, its a work in progress! Cheers TSG.
