Ford 5000 final drive ratio

Post by Aussie Frank »

Hello all,

I am trying to do a ratio comparison between the Fordson Major and the Ford 5000 rear end. I have the diff and spur gear ratios for the Major, but I can't seem to find any figures for the Ford 5000. Any specs even just a diff ratio would be a great start. Thanks in advance.

Regards, Frank.

Manual quotes 6, or 8 speed Transmission as 23.787, 37 teeth on the ring gear and 7 on the pinion.

Thanks Brian,

That was the exact information I needed. It looks like the final drive ratio is almost the same as a Super Major with a 4.4 diff. I won't go into more details but that was what I was hoping it would be.

Regards, Frank.
