3 cylinder Ford coolant leak/Clutch

Post by The Swanndri Guy »

The 3000 since I aquired it has had an intermitant coolant leak, but do you think I could get a good picture of it on the internet, of the back of the block on a 1000 series Ford? :stress: So I've finally decided to operate....

Image

As you can see the lower of the two frost plugs at the back of the block is leaking.

Trying to replace the frost plug without spliting the tractor would nearly be as hard as reseting the valve clearances after retorquing the heads on a TS 3 :run:

Apart from that, the clutch plate is Ok, but the pressure plate is worn out as the pto plate is perminantly bonded to it. TSG.

Did you never set the valves on a TS3 then, TSG? thats a bit like being sent to the stores for a long weight! :D

I did drop a clanger though when I refused to go and get a rubber hammer when serving my time.

Does anyone know what the torque settings are for the flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts? Time to get the 3000 back together. TSG.

Looking at my ford 1000 series manual (eBay CD type) the flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts should be 9/16-18 thread size and 100-110 lb/ft. The clutch cover to flywheel tightening torque is listed as 13-15lb/ft.

Does that sound right?
