Oh goody!

Yes there were hp differences, im pretty sure about that.

But, as far as i could see, there were some cosmetic differences as well

P.S.: sorry for the pics, I made them using the paint program on my computer  .

That is a Ford 4000 "X" (the pre-force)

The Ford 4000 "Y"(the "force" one)

The Ford 4600
Those pictures could show you some very slight differences in the appearance of the tractors :D
So far, that's the only thing that I could give to you :(

Yes, I agree. In fact it would only take a few changes to confuse people. Someone around here thinks he bought a ford 6600 but, for me, it looks like what he really bought was a ford pre- force 5000  (mainly because the tractor has some parts that doesn't look like for a 6600, the top link rocker of that tractor, for instance was a pre- force)

HP is different and another 2 obvious differences are the air filter (dry on 4600, oil bath on 4000) and the hydraulic system (4600 has 2 levers - one position and 1 draft whilst 4000 has one lever and a changeover).

I believe the HP increase was achieved by tuning the fuel system but not sure if it is just timing or a mechanical difference.

600 series have dry filter accessed through round screw on cover on right side of front cowl. Is his an early model which may have been on the changeover or were export versions different?

I don't think my uncle's tractor is for export, his 6600 has a handbrake in it (it seems to me that the handbrake is for British markets only)
